The Bayawanons are deeply religious in nature and some of these religious practices have become part of our cultural heritage. The “Dolorosa” is a group of 7 single ladies dress in black who made this “Panata” or promise to go from house to house offering prayers during the Lenten Session. These women represent the 7 sorrows of Blessed Virgin when Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross. This religious practice has become part of the Bayawanons way of life.
The Dolorosa a unique religious experience.
Distinctly Bayawanon.
