Pursuant to the UN declaration with Resolution No. 42-112 dated December 7, 1987 and Presidential Proclamation No. 264 signed in 1988, the 26th of June has been declared as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT). This year's theme, “Katarungan Para Sa Kalusugan, Kalusugan Para Sa Katarungan”, selected by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODOC), campaigns to raise awareness about the global drug problem.

In line with the celebration, LGU Bayawan City in partnership with the Philippine National Police-Bayawan City, City Health Office, City Public Safety Office, and the Bureau of Jail Management & Penology-Bayawan City, conducted series of activities during the said celebration viz;

1. Culmination Program on the Matrix on Intensive Out-patient Rehabilitation among drug surrenderees of Brgys. Minaba, San Roque, San, Miguel, Tayawan and Banga;
2. Conduct of Information drive among Inmates with drug related cases.
3. Hanging of IDADAIT Streamers to various designated places

This celebration is being observed internationally, as an expression of the United Nations' determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drugs.”
