The local government unit of Bayawan city celebrated Lola Pelagia Docto’s centennial year In line with Republic Act No. 10868, an act honoring and granting additional benefits and privileges to Filipino centenarians, and for other purposes or the “Centenarians Act of 2016.” She is currently residing in barangay Villareal, Bayawan City.

Mrs. Marchita Tuale, a representative from the office of CSWD, and Mrs. a representative from the Treasurer’s Office personally congratulated the celebrant for her longevity and handed the LGU Bayawan’s Centenarian gift in the amount of Php 50,000. She will also be receiving a sum of Php 100,000 from DSWD Region 7.

Lola Pelagia Docto’s daughter Elmira Balila expressed her gratitude for the honor and act of recognition received by her mother. According to her, the cash incentives will be used for Lola Pelagia Docto’s essential needs. In addition to that, she also said that she believes that the secret to Lola Pelagia Docto’s long life is the unconditional love brought about by her family.
